NATIVITYMIGUEL MIDDLE SCHOOL RECEIVES GRANT FROM LIVE LIKE LUCA: THE LUCA S. CALANNI FOUNDATION

Buffalo, NY — The NativityMiguel Middle School of Buffalo is honored to announce it has received a $7,500 grant from Live Like Luca: The Luca S. Calanni Foundation to carry on Luca’s vision of creating opportunities for children in Western New York to participate and experience activities in sports and education.

At NativityMiguel, sports are used to teach life lessons in personal conduct, respect, pride, teamwork, and unity.  The grant will provide tuition assistance to fifteen eighth grade students who, during their seventh-grade year, best exhibited our philosophy of sports: Play hard, and have the best attitude.

“We are grateful for the generous support of The Luca S. Calanni Foundation,” says Principal Father Edward Durkin, S.J. "We want to emphasize to students and their parents that we want serious students who want to learn. And we think that sports are an important part of learning."

“NativityMiguel students are well known in the Buffalo community for their good sportsmanship, their positive attitude, and the respect they show to all those with whom they come in contact.  To have their efforts recognized in Luca’s memory is very meaningful to our students, their coaches, teachers, and families, “says President Nancy Langer.

The Luca S. Calanni Foundation was founded by Ashley and Bodge Calanni in honor of their son, Luca. “NativityMiguel fits perfectly into Luca’s vision of helping to fulfill dreams and aspirations,” says Bodge. “I am so happy Live Like Luca is able to collaborate with such a fantastic group of people.”
